Dear Musical Theatre Alumni:
I know some of you from personal experience, some of you from a distance as I sat watching you perform, and a few of you by reputation alone! I am reaching out to ask if you might be interested in kindling the magic that makes DCHS musicals so remarkable and join me in performing in a black-tie gala - a tribute to DCHS Broadway musicals this fall.
The plan is to pair alumni that had leads in DCHS musicals with my current Musical Theatre Class students and create a concert event. This tribute will honor what was, is, and will be the future of the performing arts at Desert. My hope is to encourage our community that has suffered this spring from separation and loss, and help remind them of all that is great in our DCS "family."
Because the pandemic has altered how we can be together, I will create a show that can be performed live (in the theatre if we are able), or safely filmed on stage and played over a streaming platform.
My goal is to stage numbers that can be rehearsed in person and or at home - using platforms such as Zoom or Google Hangout. To be safe - no scenes will involve more than 4 characters ensuring the stage and rehearsals will be safely distanced.
An MC will tie the scenes together, along with a pre-filmed group opening and finale. My desire is to showcase as many alumni available for the grid effect as possible. You do not need to be in Tucson for the pre-filmed openings and closing. However, I would need you in person for the scenes with the MTC students.
Once I know who is committed, I can begin casting and work on recording the music with our choir director. I truly think this will be an amazing evening and one that is long overdue. The performance dates at the theatre are Nov. 19-22, 2020. Rehearsals begin in late August, but we have a lot of flexibility.
To God, be the glory!
Mrs. Alicia Fodor
