This interactive seminar focuses on the importance and need for contextual understanding of the parables of Jesus. The use and practice of teaching through parables was a highly trained and revered discipline in the first century. To understand the meaning and application of the parables today, we must first understand how the parables were crafted, as well as how they were intended to be understood by first-century recipients. One-third of the recorded words of Jesus within the Synoptic Gospels are found in parable form. Therefore, to truly know and understand the parables is one of the keys to truly knowing and understanding the person of Jesus Christ as well as His teachings.
