State Soccer Tournament Puts Eagles to the Test
Desert Christian Boys and Girls Soccer teams traveled to Tempe for the first round of of State playoffs this past weekend. After soundly defeating Flagstaff 7-1 on Friday, the boys were overcome 6-1 in a strong offensive effort by St. Greg's on Saturday. DCHS boys finished the season 2nd in the conference.
The Desert Christian Men's Swim Team took 5th place and the Women took 6th overall in the 1A,2A,3A State Championships Phoenix . Senior Maryssa Nied won the silver medal in the 500 yard Freestyle and senior Jordan Bridges also claimed the silver medal in the 100 yard Breast Stoke. The women's 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Haily Furrier, Makenna Woodworth, Hannah Johnsen and Maryssa Nied took home the silver medal for Desert Christian as well with a time of 1:54.48.

A standing room only crowd assembled for DCS's first all-school Veteran's Day Chapel. While public schools and government agencies took the day off, Desert decided to keep the day and make it one in which to remember our treasured military personnel. Songs and prayers were offered up by various student music groups as token of appeciation for those who keep us safe and free. Many DCHS graduates and family members who are serving actively were given tribute in a slide presentation at the conclusion of the event that made us each "Proud to be an American." Photos...

After soundly defeating Flagstaff 7-1 on Friday, the boys were overcome 6-1 in a strong offensive effort by St. Greg's on Saturday. DCHS boys finished the season 2nd in the conference.
Meanwhile, the Girls' team won a nail-biter in their opening contest at State against Payson. In a repeat of last year's first round scenario, a tie score after overtime led to a shootout, but this time with the eventual win (3-2, OT PK 4-2)). On Saturday, the Eagles outlasted #2 seed Show Low (1-0) for a spot in the finals at Grand Canyon College. After a hard fought 90 minutes of play Blue Ridge scored in overtime to win the game.
